There are many ways to make money online, but I believe that the cheapest, fastest, easiest and hands down best way to build your business skills and infrastructure online is to start by selling products as an affiliate marketer.

An affiliate is someone who acts as a middle-man and earns a commission on a sale – much like a broker.

In the online world, it works is like this:

Big companies like Amazon sell thousands of products. You may be surprised to learn that a large number of those products are sold through ordinary people who market those products on their own web pages or through pay-per-click channels.

If you go to Amazon’s home page and scroll to the bottom of the page, there is a link titled “affiliates”.

It only takes a few minutes to sign up and you too can become an affiliate. No charge.

Amazon will assign you a special ID.

Next, you can use the “search” feature to search Amazon’s website for things to sell.

For example, you can enter “Golf” and Amazon will show all of the products it sells for that related term.

When you find something you want to sell, you can get a special link to that product with your ID code embedded in the link.

Amazon even offers an easy way to give you the photos and description of the product so you can quickly add it to your website. It takes just minutes and it’s all done online.

Once you have the link, you can then market the product. If someone clicks the link on your page, they’re taken to the page at Amazon that offers the product. Then, if they buy that product, you earn a commission.

You don’t need to find suppliers, hire an attorney, sign agreements, have a warehouse, inventory and employees, create brochures, hunt for property, sign a lease, open a retail store and so on.

You just get a link, promote it and cash your commission checks.

Granted, you’ll likely have a number of duds, but inevitably, most marketers eventually stumble upon something that works.

At that point, you can build an entire business around it.

There are thousands of smaller affiliate networks that work much like Amazon.

Four to consider starting with are Amazon, Clickbank, Commission Junction and Linkshare.

The great thing about starting in affiliate marketing is that you learn a ton about your market and the best marketing methods for reaching them without spending a fortune.

And, you can literally start in minutes.

Spend some time today surfing these affiliate networks – even if you’ve already decided on a product. It’s a great practice to test several things at the same time and then focus your efforts on the winner.
